Ok, I confess, I'm a bit of a YouTube junkie, especially for renovation videos. I've seen a ton of them. Some are good and some are poor. Yours on the other hand are excellent. Great video quality, great content and a nice easy flowing exchange of information. Well done. Makes me happy to see you are in Ottawa too! Keep up the good work.

It's always a pleasure to see your videos and explanations. I live in France and our houses are built totally differently (99% made out of cinder blocks or bricks, no 2*4), so the construction techniques and the codes that you use will be of no use for me. Nonetheless, your videos are always full of tips and tricks that apply to every build/renovation projects. I spent 45min of my life watching this vidéo, and it was definitely not time wasted. Thank you very much

Hello Jeff I have a basement with center blocks walls and I am looking forword to finishing up that space. One ? i have for you is how best would i go with unsulating those walls for a long run? I will be doing a 2by4 studs walls closing off the center blocks. any tips so i would not run into getting mold and moisture trapped? i saw you did a spray foam insulation? did it go directly on the concrete wall or had something in between the wall and insulation? thanks you for your video really helfull

Wow - final walkthrough looked amazing! Good job guys. I know you did a vid on how to install a pre-hung door , but I’ve recently been in a small renovation project where we had custom door dimensions and had (have) to cut the door down to size. A video on that would illuminate TONS of these for the weekend DIY’er: how to estimate door size from the rough opening, how to build a custom door jamb w/ door stop, how to determine the swing of the door and which doors in your house typically swing certain ways, where the hinges go, differences in interior/exterior application, etc.... I really found the how to drywall series informative because of all the wisdom you passed down about techniques used in the field and the step by step manner. Maybe a small video on doors could help out lots of homeowners and possibly save some expense on buying full door “sets” from the box stores! Thanks for the content and production!

**** Jeff, thanks posting these videos. I am thinking of completing my basement and I have question about insulation on exterior wall. I currently have big blanket of insulation on my concrete exterior wall. I think the current blanket insulation has r12 but I have to be at minimum r18 as per local code. Can add stud (2x4) in front of the existing insulation, remove existing vapour barrier, add additional insulation to bring my r value to the code and then apply vapour barrier?
